My daughter wants to create a Facebook and Instagram account but I think she is too young. What age do you all think is appropriate?

My som is 8 years old. I fina decided to allow him access to IG. I am not sure if it was the best decision as at times I find things in his search engine that makes me wonder “Lawd is this just the beginning“. I monitor his IG however I only allow him to follow soccer and sports pages. He is not permitted to follow people who may influence sex, drugs, or violence! I mean as if our kids aren’t exposed to enough. Perhaps 8 is too soon?? I need feedback.
